New Horizon (ANNIVERSARY POEM)
They say the greatness and downfall of a man starts and ends in the hands of a woman and I totally agree.. From David to Samson and from Moses to Solomon… a woman played a role in their ascendancy or decline. You have played a major role in adding greatness to my life. I LOVE YOU.
April 9, 2013: this is our second year anniversary (the big wedding but legally its almost 3 years).
Meeting you seems just like yesterday, time went by so fast.. I remember sending you an email and I didn’t get a response and when I reminded you, you replied saying “ you couldn’t understand the contents of my email because it was abbreviated to the brim.. Lol
From chatting via Facebook email (2008), transferring to MSN messenger, SMS and calls and then BBM (2009).. I remember switching phones on a quarterly basis (either cause it became faulty due to the excessive call times or staying up all night till 4 am naija time, at times my sister; Lanre would come to my room to find me awake and wonder if I would end up with brain cancer cause I hardly slept) or bad keypads from chatting back and forth)… staying on the phone with you even when my beloved Manchester united was losing (very hard.. I wonder how I did that), walking around 207 late at night looking for where to charge my phones cause I knew I had to stay in touch with you.. going beyond limits to stay in touch with each other almost landed me in trouble with my boss cause I was always bumping into people while typing (I remember KC telling me, the boss was really upset) and also transferring airtime illegally from Tunji’s phone when the payphone centres had closed (quite embarrassing though).
Despite the distance between us then, I was your alarm clock (waking u up for work), talking on the phone with you while you drove to work, sending voice notes over BBM when we weren’t available to talk, sending pictures of our daily lives, our senseless arguments, constructive but intense criticisms.. I honestly wonder how we made it through cause there were times when we felt the best thing to do was to end the whole thing cause of the distance but one way or the other we would find ourselves talking again. I remember being scared to tell my friends that I was falling in love with you because I knew they would eat me up cause of the way I insulted them when they said they were in love ( I would say “you are on a high way to sudden death if you love a woman”.. Jonathan (d manager), Jude, Osemz, Seun can all testify)… but here I was looking forward to your calls, texts, BBM everyday and all day.
Our first meeting in 2009 during my vacation would forever be a day I would never forget, the sacrifices we both made to ensure it happened cant be overstated.
Your presence has been a huge addition to my life in several ways that I can’t even remember;
from the restoration of self-confidence and belief
To added lofty ambitions
To better decision making
To unearthing my unknown capacity and ability
To improving my approach to several issues in life
To eradicating some unexplainable planlessness and giving me something to hold on to when I couldn’t find my way.
The list can go on and on but above all I am lucky and blessed to have you… love, growing up and life is a task filled with grotesque obstacles but with you by my side, I have the conviction that they will end up being stepping stones.. From being a rough diamond, I am being transformed into a precious stone all because of you. My imperfections and inconsistencies still exist but you haven’t let them cloud your thoughts, efforts and love for our union.
We have had our ups and downs just like every relationship but we have overcome every one of them. You kept your faith in me even I didn’t deserve it, paying you back is a debt I can never eliminate and even if there’s a way to pay you back… I don’t and I never want to find it.
All that I am and all that I’ll be can and would always be linked to your presence in my life.. You have shown me life beyond the rain.. With you I believe in dreams, with you I have learnt to always believe even when I have no reason to do so,
Thank you for accepting to be Mrs. Oyenuga (the one and only existing one),
Thank you for giving me an adorable heartbreaker (our son),
Thank you for the love you’re giving me,
Thank you for all the memories and support
Thank you for being the foundation for our colourful tomorrow
Thank you for known and unknown transformations I’m undergoing
Thank you for allowing me to wake up in morning (sometimes 5 am texas time) to watch Manchester united play
Thank you for allowing me to play football rather than staying at home over the weekend
Thank you for pushing me even when I tried to make you see reasons why I shouldn’t continue
If there’s any regret that I have, it’s the fact that you never had the opportunity to meet my mum, but I’m sure she’s happy her son found a jewel like you..
Happy anniversary my jewel… I look forward to many more years with you
I love you now, always and 4eva.

We give JESUS CHRIST all the glory and adoration becaue without him nothing would have been possible.wow wale reading through this put a big smile on my face and made me remember my story too with distant relationship.I always told people then if you can overcome distance you can overcome any challenges in a relationship.I totally understand how you feel from within.its good when a woman can channel you to greatness.exactly how I feel about my wife.I wonder what kind of life we would be living now if we did not meet this womennn ennn wale lol.at this point I pray that this wedding will never lack any good thing because it is written that he that findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favour from the lord.GODS FAVOUR SHALL NOT DEPART from your house in JESUS NAME!AMEN. Stay blessed bro and my regard to the virtuous woman in your life.

What an awesome write up!! May the love you guys have continue to grow even more. All I remember from Kemi’s end was her swinging around a pole talking on the phone the night before my graduation in 2009. So funny!!
Dear Mrs. Jenner,
My name is Olukemi Olugbode. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, went back to Nigeria for some time with my parents and siblings and returned to Texas in the 90s. I am a registered nurse in Texas. I am married with a son, my pride & joy. I have been a nurse since 2007 and it is my passion. I have ideas of how I can continue to contribute to those less fortunate of receiving healthcare due to their status. I want to start my own business. You can discuss entrepreneurship on your show, starting with yourself. You are a smart woman and a successful entrepreneur. Look forward to watching your show.
All the best to you and yours
